What we collect
Your email address. You give it to us to receive the brief. That is the only thing we ask for.
Consent evidence. When you subscribe we record the date and time, the IP address you subscribed from, and which form you used. Canada's anti-spam law requires us to be able to prove you asked for this, and that record is how we do it.
Click counts. Links in the brief pass through go.canadianrealestatedaily.ca before continuing to the source. We log which issue and which item the click came from, and a one-way hash of your IP address. The hash lets us tell two clicks apart without knowing whose they are. Your raw IP address is never written to that log.
Enquiries. If you use the advertising contact form, we keep what you typed and a hashed IP, so we can reply and so the form can be rate-limited.
What we do not do
No cookies. No advertising trackers. No third-party fonts. The one script this site loads is Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies, without local storage, without fingerprinting, and without collecting personal data. Nothing on this site follows you anywhere else.
We do not sell, rent, trade or share your email address. Sponsors buy space in the brief; they never receive a list, a name or an address. Anyone who tells you otherwise is not us.
Who else touches your data
- MailerLite stores the subscriber list and sends the email.
- Cloudflare hosts the site and the database, and counts page views.
- Resend delivers messages from the contact form.
Each is a processor acting on our instructions. Each may store data outside Canada, including in the United States, where foreign courts and authorities may be able to compel access.
How long we keep it
Your email address and consent record stay until you unsubscribe, then are deleted within 30 days. Click logs are kept for 24 months and are only ever read in aggregate. Enquiries are kept for 24 months.
Getting out
Every issue has an unsubscribe link in the footer. It works immediately and needs no explanation. You can also email thom@thomvandycke.com and ask.
Under Canadian privacy law you may ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email the address above. We will answer within 30 days.
Children
This is written for working real estate professionals. It is not directed at anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the change will be announced in an issue rather than quietly posted. The date below is when it last changed.
